You Say I'm The One That Got Away....

You know what burns? (Save your Kat Stacks jokes for later, I'm trying to be serious.) Being disappointed by someone you've put your time and trust in. And I know we all get disappointed from time to time, it's a part of life, but the shit still pisses me off. And yes, I know I can't always get my way and blah blah blah, but for real, for serious though? The shit is obnoxious.

When someone sets an expectation for you of themselves, you'd expect for them to deliver, right? Why give your word and not stand by it?

Several weeks ago, a friend was home from out of town that I hadn't seen in years. The week prior when he first told me he was coming up we had been on the phone catching up and he told me he really wanted to see me. The feeling was mutual, and I never see him when he's here. So what did I do? The next day at work I go and take a day off for the following week to spend with said friend. I let him know, he says "Cool." We make no real plans, just plan to be "spontaneous". "All I know is that I'm going to see you."

Well fuck spontaneity. I sat in the house all that day waiting to hear from dude for me to get one text letting me know he was being held up. Needless to say I went about my day with my homegirl without hearing from him the rest of the day. You know I would have been PISSED had I not gotten paid for that day?? Lucky for him I got (had, lol) plenty of PTO to spare but that's beside the point.

You know the worst of it all? I never got an apology. No "I'm sorry you took off work for nothing." Just a couple TwitPics to the general public as what the hold up was, though my understanding was that it had been corrected prior to his trip up, but again, neither here nor there. Fact of the matter is, time is money and you wasted mine.

I just don't understand this coming from someone who seemed so gung ho about rebuilding our friendship to finally take things further. Wouldn't you like to NOT fuck shit up AGAIN like you did previously? Yeah I know we had that conversation but still. You say I'm the one that got away, yet you seem intent on letting me go. And I refuse to hold my breath. I got enough going on in my life, I told you I needed support and you obviously seem to be incapable of delivery.

I guess this is my rant to him seeing as how I never got the chance to before, what with me never receiving that apology and all. Haven't spoken a word to him since. But I originally started writing this to talk about my disappointment from today. Don't even feel like getting into another story, especially cuz I ended up having a pretty damn good day. Bottom line, people need to stop promising and then failing to deliver. You're hurting others probably more than you realize.

Bienvenido a Miami

I don't like basketball.

I mean, I don't HATE it. I guess it can be pretty exciting at times, but I'm a football kind of girl. Where you can knock people on their asses or clean the fcuk out but it's okay because it's part of the game! That's where my heart lies.

But there's my disclaimer. So with that said...I cannot BELIEVE the flack Lebron James is getting for leaving Cleveland and going to Miami. Burning his jersey?? The owner blasting him in an open letter to the fans?? The more days that go by the more upset I get. He betrayed you?? After 7 years and no ring he BETRAYED you?? For 7 years he was your golden child but now that he's leaving he was a curse because he never won a ring?! To the put the weight and success of a team/franchise squarely on the shoulders of ONE 25-year-old man is ABSURD. If I was a player for the Cavs I'd feel like I just got shitted on because you're basically saying that my presence on the team is irrelevant. Because my name aint Lebron James.

I understand he was your revenue generator for the past 7 years but come on. Clearly he wasn't happy. I don't know about yall but I for damn sure ain't gonna stay somewhere I'm not happy (Just look how often I change jobs). And he signed for a lower amount so that the team would be able to bring on other free agents (I've taken a pay cut too). If a man takes LESS money to go to another team for happiness and the potential to win a ring, what's the big deal? Isn't that what players enter the NBA and the NFL for?? To show off their talent, get rich, and WIN A RING?! I'm no sports expert so maybe I'm missing something. But if memory serves me correctly, the maximum sentence for indentured servitude was 7 years. Did he not fulfill the requirement, Dan Gibson?

Okay so maybe he didn't go about announcing his decision the best way but then HE DONATED IT ALL TO CHARITY!! Close to $2.5 million to the Boys and Girls Club of America. Which also got a chance to advertise during the hour-long special. And you know these ragamuffins these days need as much guidance as they can get. Oh but that still makes him selfish right?? Fcuk outta here.

Man Lebron congratulations. And Savannah call me if you need backup to keep these hoes away.

Due to circumstances beyond either of our control, my most recent venture into the world of dating has been cut short.

Good dude. Similar interests. Great times. Life happens.

The older I get the easier situations become to handle, yet the harder they are on the mind and spirit.

Adulthood hit full on this time and I can't remember ever being faced with a harder situation. But funnily enough, it has nothing to do with me.

But no one died. So it can't all be bad.
